Restorative Yoga For Menstruation

In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, menstruation is the time to slow down and go inward. The hormone that plays a key role in the menstrual cycle - estrogen - drops and energy is typically lower. You may feel a pull to rest more, refrain from social activities, or you may experience a certain level of cramping, irritability, or other emotions that arise.

A high intensity yoga practice or work out during this time can often create more stress, anxiety and tension in the body. Restorative Yoga is a great practice for honoring the cyclical nature of your menstruation phase in your menstrual cycle because it allows you to lower cortisol levels, create mindfulness, and an awareness of what is happening in your body and mind. We will have a brief discussion on menstruation, how you can honor yourself during this time as well as integrate yoga poses and practices to help you honor your body, your hormones, and your mind.

This is for any woman who experiences the following:

-A disconnect from their menstrual cycle or their womb

-Cramping or painful periods

-Irritability or other emotions that feel out of control (whether you bleed or not)
